As a patient myself, my own reflections are that such hospital systems with foundation status create accountability to patients, public participation and provide staff to better engage with service-users. Speaking from experience, such systems have been specifically designed to respond to the needs of the local population, particularly reaching out to the hard to reach groups i.e pensioners and young people. In addition, there are also governor schemes would promote more transparency and greater involvement in the day to day decision making of particular hospital.
