It's polling day!

Well – out with the lark delivering our ‘Good Morning’ bright and breezy leaflets to remind everyone that today is the day you can VOTE for Mayor, constituency rep and list member for London Government!

I was elected through the list vote in 2000 and 2004 – that’s the third vote where you just get to put an X for against a party name. Monica Whyte is the Haringey / Enfield constituency Liberal Democrat candidate – so an X next to her name for that vote would be good. And then obviously X for Brian Paddick for Mayor! You get a second choice too.

Anyway – off I go again to pound the streets and knock on doors until 10pm tonight. Then later I am doing broadcast coverage from City Hall around 1am. Just hope I am able to keep my eyes open!

Don’t forget to vote! Polls open until 10pm – no polling card needed. Postal votes can also still be returned by handing them in at a polling station.

Not sure where you should vote in Haringey? Give our team a call on 07763 745 402 and they can tell you – and also give you a lift to the polling station – and back home again! – if you need one.

  1. I was the first one at 7am on the dot to have voted at the Bounds Green polling station. I was the first one to walk through the doors to vote, which I am glad I did. But it is cheeky of the Lib Dems to operate a minicab service for free, where they drive voters to the polling station in order to win votes LOL…..

  2. I don’t think it’s cheeky at all, Lynne hasn’t said that there is a catch and I am sure there isn’t.Many people do find it a chore or difficulty to get to a polling station, and others don’t have time during the morning because they work and during the evening they are scared because of crime so do not want to go alone. The Lib Dems. offering to drive people simply shows they are more willing to help in the area than any other party. That’s not cheeky. It’s also why you should vote for Brian, to help lower crime. 😉

  3. There is a simple catch in all of this; if you take a Lib Dem cab, you will have to vote for their candidate. They will probably brainwash you during the cab journey, try to find out who you are voting for and then convince you why their candidate is the best one. No party should run a cab service simply to win votes. This is an irresponsible way of drawing in voters, by making up claims of crime etc. The Conservative Party do not necessarily have to formulate a cab provision service sponsored by our party HQ to run a cab service; we are convinced that our candidates are good enough to receive enough votes from voters, within our particular constituency. We will wait and see tommorow evening with the results of the London Mayoral elections and GLA elections. 4. That’s very silly Mash – lots of Conservatives all round the country offer lifts to people too!

  5. Mash: I’ve got copies of dozens of Conservative leaflets from all across the country which offer people a lift to the polling station. You’ll also find this frequently mentioned on Conservative Party websites – just as you’ll find it often mentioned Liberal Democrats, Labour and other parties. If you really don’t believe that the Conservatives regularly do this, you can start with looking at leaflets such as this one.

  6. “They will probably brainwash you during the cab journey, try to find out who you are voting for and then convince you why their candidate is the best one.”I think it’s time you invested in a tin-foil hat before the aliens descend upon your home and beam you up!Brainwash indeed. Well, thanks for the laugh Mash. Shame I can’t take your comments seriously from now on.
