I’ve always voted Lib Dem, but I’d never vote for someone who couldn’t keep calm during an emergency and react appropriately.

I can understand some vulnerable, slightly senile, elderly person quite rightly calling the fire brigade in such a situation or perhaps a child, but certainly not an adult (and especially not an MP).

We critise the government for always increasing taxes, but they haven’t got really any choice if people are going to use the emergency services as plumbers, electricians etc.

It wasn't just social workers involved. The police for example had a live criminal investigation underway for months. It seems they did not discover the existence of up to five people in the house, did not according to press reports question neighbours, and did not follow up when there was talk of a man on the scene. Social workers do not have the powers to investigate that the police have. The criminal investigation was dropped because of lack of evidence a few days before Baby P was murdered.
