Old Holborn – please help

A while back, at the height of the Baby P postings on my blog, a blogger called Old Holborn posted this:

Shhhh. Don’t tell ANYONE

Lynne Featherstone is doing sterling work digging deeper and deeper. Should Old Holborn give her the memo showing that Haringey were TOLD not to take children into care because it was too expensive? Proving that Baby P died because the …

Since then, another source told me of the same memo / email. I issued a Freedom of Information request to Haringey Council but they have responded saying that it would be too expensive to find. So I am making a public appeal to Old Holborn. If you have the memo of copy of the memo – then please send it to me.

  1. no more a fitting tribute to a murdered baby than the uncovering of this vital document. Old Holborn can do something that most others are unable to.

  2. Good grief – Not taking children into care because it’s too expensive? Not searching for a memo (which could have serious repercussions) because it’s too expensive?£350k per year for “Haringey People” propaganda mag – bargain!

  3. If the memo is, as it should be in this day and age, archived electronically, uncovering it should not be difficult – technology (for which you, Lynne, of course now chair a useful group). Is there a route to take legal action to uncover it?

  4. And have the Police raid your office in the Commons, arresting you AND then me at 3am in my house? No chance.Speak to the Head of IT at Haringay Council. He is required by law to hold backups of Email.

  5. It’s not that they don’t have it – they won’t look for it on costs grounds unless I can narrow down the field. Can you give me a time frame and names of who from and who to? If you don’t want return comment published – then that is OK with me. I would be grateful for all the help you can give me.

  6. Too expensive !!!!This coming from a council that spent £1.6m on PR following the death of baby p.If it wasn’t so serious it would be laughable.

  7. Pity your last surgery was on April 3rd Please let me know when the next one is please

  8. I think you need to have a word with the head of IT.

If it’s a standard email system, then all you need to do is tell him/her the words to search for, and the email systme will find the emails for them.

However, from today’s court case it looks like they have deleted them. Perhaps the judge needs to be told that deleting an email will still leave the copy on the server, and if they are a professional outfit they will be backing up emails. That means they can restore onto a separate server the backup, perform the searches there.

Otherwise we are going to be paying hundreds, if not millions to someone who was sacked for incompentence
