		<description>It is an awful burden to bear - to carry responsibility for Baby P. I feel sympathy for Maria Ward in particular. It was hardly her wish or intent that the child came to the harm that he did. But she did err seriously and could have prevented the outcome had she acted in a more interventionist manner. He had no means of representing himself and Maria Ward was there on his behalf and sadly failed him. She has to live with that knowledge for the rest of her days and that is punishment in itself; probably more punishment than the guilty ever undergo. Nevertheless I doubt if this action really addresses the systemic nature of the problem that has beset Haringey. And it would be most unfair if her name was to become synonymous with the failings of Haringey.</description>
