Excited and nervous is me today.
Excited because this looks like an election of a lifetime both nationally – where we can completely overturn the existing political establishment – and locally – where 40 years of Labour rule in Haringey Council is hanging by a thread.
Nervous because – quite rightly – this is the day you can sack me from my job or give me another term of office. When it comes down to it, I get no more say than anyone else – we all have just the one vote on the general election ballot paper.
I blogged yesterday details of how you vote, when you vote and so on. If you’re still making your mind up, you can take a look at the Liberal Democrat national manifesto, our local one for the Haringey Council elections and watch my film:
Congratulations on the results, I am delighted for you and the team! As a father of a child seeking a place in our local school I am keen to understand what your plans are to redress the shortage of school places as my 4 year old daughter has no allocation from our preferred list. I grew up in Muswell hill and expected my kids to have entry into a truly local school.
Many congratulations on your results – I really hope this means you will be able to use influence with Lib Dem leadership not to let the Tories fob the country off on political reform – we need a clear commitment to at least a referendum on proportional representation.
Congratulations on your result. I too really hope that the Lib Dem leadership do not make a deal with any party without the promise of voting reform. If lib dems make a deal without that, I’m not sure I’ll be able to bring myself to vote Lib Dem again.
Congratulations Lynne, Hornsey & Wood Green could not have a better champion and representative.
Good luck.
I voted for you and your record, not to let Cameron in.
Say no to a Lib Dem/Tory coalition.
