Crime

From campaigning successfully to get Muswell Hill police front counter restored through to working with residents to set up neighbourhood watches, there is much that can be done to work effectively against crime.

Lynne Featherstone with police in Muswell HillCrime and fear of crime still seriously affect people’s lives.

Whether it is fear of walking home at night or being burgled – we need to feel that the police are around and about making our streets safe.

And when something does happen – we need to know that if we call the police will be there quickly and that the crime will be taken seriously and its perpetrator pursued.

Whilst police numbers are better and the advent of Safer Neighbourhood teams is a step in the right direction, we are still facing a battle over where police are stationed, when and where they patrol and where front counters should be and what hours they should be open – and how long it takes for the police to come after being called for a non-999 call.
