Our environment

It’s been about constantly campaigning for more and better recycling, about better public transport links, about reducing personal carbon foot prints and at Parliament campaigning for there to be a Climate Change Bill.

Moravian Church solar panelsHow do you eat an elephant? One bit at a time! That’s how I think of Climate Change and what each of us individually and all of us collectively can do to avert disaster.

No hair shirts – but reasonable steps any individual can take.

I remember one of my first campaigns in Hornsey & Wood Green – it was for door to door recycling. And lo and behold right in the middle of the council election of ’98 where I was campaigning in Muswell Hill to be elected a local councillor – door to door recylcing boxes appeared in Muswell Hill. The miracle of poltical buttons pressed at appropriate moments!

Since then – it’s been about constantly campaigning for more and better recycling, about better public transport links, about reducing personal carbon foot prints and at Parliament campaigning for there to be a Climate Change Bill and trying to get the Governemnt to walk the talk – i.e. to reduce its own carbon emmissions.
