MP for Hornsey and Wood Green

Hornsey Central Hospital

It's not enough to simply have new health services – they also have to be convenient for people to get to. And that's the problem with the Hornsey Hospital site – health services but poor transport links.

Over half the people in the area serviced by the site would have to travel for 20 minutes or more – often making multiple changes. That’s fine if you are in good health, find it easy to get about and can make your own way unencumbered by a handful of small children. But those are the only people who need to get health services!

The health trust and Transport for London have been playing out an extremely slow duet, promising possibly maybe sometime in the future they would do something. So that’s why I have been campaigning to put the pressure on – and to knock heads together. A health site needs transport services and transport services should serve where people need to go!
