Lynne Featherstone

MP for Hornsey and Wood Green

Local rail services

All local stations must benefit from proposed changes to rail services. Stations like Harringay and Hornsey are small but popular – and need protecting.

The Coalition Government is currently investing £6 billion into rail services – great news for Britain’s commuters. This money will reduce overcrowding at stations like Alexandra Palace and Finsbury Park.

But I don’t want other stations to miss out. I’m particularly concerned that users of Harringay and Hornsey stations could suffer, with the new train services unable to stop because the current platforms at these stations are not long enough or not on the correct tracks. It is also possible that the current level of service could end up being cut at Harringay and Hornsey from 2018.

Protecting services at all stations in my constituency remains my number one rail priority.
