Lynne Featherstone

MP for Hornsey and Wood Green

Hornsey

Hornsey is bang in the middle of Hornsey & Wood Green – both geographically and economically. My constituency office is there – above The Three Compasses Pub in the High Street – a very wonderful local community pub. I often have a meeting in the pub itself – much better atmosphere than a formal office.

The High Street in Hornsey is really useful with lots of small shops to cover daily needs – as well as odd sorts of things. With Priory Park, where the annual YMCA Fun Run takes place, and the bottom end of the Alexandra Park it also has good green spaces. Each year the Hornsey Carnival with its carnival queens (and me up on back of open top car) and local community floats weaves its way through Hornsey’s streets for charity. There is a relatively new housing development at New River Village.

The key issues are: anti-social behaviour and crime, the new proposal to site a huge railway depot there, the re-development of the Hornsey Water Works site – and the usual run of traffic and parking issues.

My Liberal Democrat Ward councillor colleagues here are Robert Gorrie, Errol Reid and Monica Whyte.
